Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills, and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives. Pop Warner seeks to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success. Specifically, Pop Warner seeks to familiarize players and spirit participants with fundamentals of football, cheerleading and dance. Pop Warner strives to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness as reflected in the life of the late Glenn Scobie "Pop" Warner" (www.popwarner.com).

What division should I select for my child?
The Marauders recommend that each child, especially those children new to football or cheerleading, participant with the youngest group of children possible.
Though all our divisions emphasize the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, the older divisions tend to challenge the children with more complex strategies and tactics that go beyond the fundamentals.
For football players, locate your age, then your weight to select the youngest group of children (see Age/Weight Matrix on Registration Page)
Cheerleaders need only select age.

Local and Regional Cheerleading competitions are held in San Jose.
National Cheerleading and Football competitions are held at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Is Tackle Football safe to play? With the proper coaching in football techniques, proper fitting of protective equipment coupled with the use of the Age/Weight Matrix to ensure that players of similar size and ability are playing each other, youth tackle football could be safer than other sports where a child is exposed to hazards and the game does not require protective equipment.
National Pop Warner provides detailed information on safety and required coaches trainings here.
